WILD CANARY BRISBANE WEDDING | TARYN + MICK
This journal post is co-authored by Ann Taylor. Photos were featured in the June 2021 issue of Queensland Brides Magazine.
Taryn is from New York, Mick is from Brisbane. After meeting in a wine bar in Chile, Taryn moved across the ocean for love.
Originally, Taryn & Mick were supposed to get married in New York, but C*VID had different plans, so they gracefully pivoted to an intimate ceremony and lunch reception at Wild Canary. Taryn’s family in America joined via video link and it felt like they were right there with us. One of Taryn’s closest friends even did a reading during the ceremony all the way from the USA.
Less Stuff, More Meaning
Having a sustainable, eco-friendly wedding was super important for these two, so they sourced a lot of their vendors through the Less Stuff More Meaning directory. The ethos at their chosen venue, Wild Canary in Brookfield, is perfectly aligned with Taryn & Mick’s values with their emphasis on fresh, farm-to-table produce and whole foods. Taryn is a nutritionist, so has high standards and an appreciation of good food. Wild Canary is also known for opulent cakes covered in fresh flowers and herbs from the kitchen garden. The restaurant and garden surrounds are already so beautiful, very little decoration was needed and there always is the option to borrow plants from the nursery next door, keeping the carbon footprint of your wedding to a minimum. Fig Flowers nailed the brief with a lush garden setting for the bridal bouquet, ceremony space and for the lunch tablescapes.
Penthouse Prep
Taryn & Mick both got ready in the Penthouse at The Johnson in Spring Hill with their favourite people around them. Leigh McCoy & Dyan Acuesta were doing their magic on hair & makeup and Ann Taylor from Ceremona Weddings created a moment of reflection and relaxation for Taryn and her crew through one of her beautiful wedding morning ceremonies and sound meditation. Taryn’s friends, sister-in-law and nieces were invited to say a few words to send Taryn off into this new chapter. A few tears were definitely shed.
Ceremony Reflections
Throughout their journey with Ann from Ceremona, Taryn and Mick made creating their ceremony effortless - they both valued the importance of the ceremony in the scheme of their whole day and were incredibly thoughtful in communicating both their love story and how they wanted to feel during the ceremony. They also chose to include the “Ceremona Reflection” which is a section of the ceremony that Ann surprised them with on the day. Ann had emailed several of their closest friends ahead of time to get insights into who they are as individuals and as a couple and then was able to reflect that back to them during their ceremony. It definitely elicited a lot of emotion - both tears and laughter. It is all too rare in life that our closest people get to tell us all the reason why we are so loved. Being able to facilitate this experience for her couples is one of Ann’s favourite things about being a marriage celebrant.
Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens for Sunset Photos
The beauty of the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens is that the flora and colours are different at each visit. At the time of Taryn & Mick’s wedding, some striking pink and red flowers were in bloom, so we used those to frame some shots. We took these two on a little stroll including stops at the lagoon, passing the ‘hectic cactus’, bathing in a sun-kissed spot in some random succulent wall that always gets the best light and over to the Japanese Gardens for some dancing on the little wooden bridge and some adventuring over some boulders across the waterfall. For the finale, we drove up to the top of Mount Coot-tha where I busted out my bottle of champagne and Mick had no hesitation in completely showering Doruk with it for his champagne-pop shot. We’re used to it and it made for some great photos.
We will let the images do the rest of the storytelling. Enjoy. xx

I was pregnant with Maya and only 4 months away from becoming a mama when I photographed Cat & Austin’s wedding with my love and my husband of then 8 years, Doruk. The fact that Doruk and I get to create together, and that we get to roam around wineries with people who feel like family to us, will never get old for me. Here is our visual poem of Cat & Austin’s intimate winter wedding at Ocean View Estates Winery, only featuring their closest family members and the two of them.
Originally built in the 1880s as the residence of Dr. John Thompson, The Inchcolm by Ovolo draws inspiration from the interwar period, a time characterised by its innovative art, music, and literature. In the 1880s, probably no one envisioned that Dr Thompson’s residence would one day be a sought-after wedding venue and much-loved boutique hotel, yet The Inchcolm stands today as a symbol of Brisbane’s rich history and architectural brilliance.
What we love the most about this venue is its perfectly moody light. In conjunction with the considered placement of strobe lights {external flashes positioned across a room to manipulate the light and create a specific ambience}, the angle and intensity of the natural light flowing through the windows in the foyer and in the Thompson Suite make for the perfect setting for wedding and editorial shoots. We keep coming back for more.
Felicity and Liam's elopement was a tale of many layers. At its heart, it was about love – pure, profound, and eternal. But it was also about bidding farewell to a city that had nurtured their relationship.
In a world that often rushes towards grandeur and extravagance, Felicity and Liam chose simplicity, authenticity, and art. Their ‘Alice in Wonderland’-themed Brisbane City elopement serves as a testament that when two souls are in harmony, the universe conspires to make their journey as enchanting as their favourite tales.
Brisbane, with its endless charms, had been their playground, their sanctuary, and on this elopement day, their witness.
In our digitised world, where images are fleeting and often relegated to screens, the power of a tangible print has become even more pronounced. While digital photographs are convenient, they often lack the permanence and physicality that come with printed photographs.
Physical prints, especially those rendered on exquisite paper and materials, are an affirmation of moments that matter. A wedding album printed on fine art paper isn't just a collection of photos—it's a family heirloom, a tactile testament to love, and a piece of art.
Moreover, surrounding ourselves with tangible memories in our homes can serve as a daily reminder of the beauty, love, and experiences we cherish. They're not just décor; they're fragments of our life stories that deserve to be celebrated.
OBSESSED!!! Having Lovelenscapes capture our wedding was the best decision! I seriously LOVE every photo taken and we are so grateful that we will have these memories to look back on forever. They are a true heirloom and worth the investment. Erin & Doruk were so relaxed and fun to work with and are true artists at their craft. My partner and I cannot sing high enough praises for the whole team at Lovelenscapes!!! Thank you so much for making these memories so special xx

Lovelenscapes are the absolute dream team and we can’t recommend them highly enough. We did our engagement shoot with them and right from the start, Tina made us feel at ease and as though we were chatting to a friend. Tina, Doruk and Gabe then captured our wedding day, in April, from start to finish, with photography and videography. They blended in to our day so well, and all our family and friends are still raving about them. It’s clear to see the passion they have for their jobs. They are simply beautiful humans and we couldn’t have picked a better team to capture our special day. They were so helpful throughout the process and all the images we’ve received so far have blown us away. Our wedding videos exceeded our expectations and we even had an iPhone reel with us as soon as we woke up the morning after the wedding! Incredible! The attention to detail from Lovelenscapes is like nothing we’ve experienced. They truly captured all the special moments, big and small. Do yourself a favour and let them be the ones to capture your special occasions.

Newhite stands for a fresh vision and perspective on weddings and marriage. L.A.-based and sustainably made, Newhite’s Collection V with its impeccable lines and cloud-like shapes is inspired by architecture, and by the legendary Japanese designer Issey Miyake. Pleated satin jersey, creates soft silhouettes and textured crisp crinkle organza adds volume and dimension without feeling heavy. Add on removable sleeves and skirts to create additional layers and drama. With a minimal, yet sophisticated aesthetic, Newhite invites brides of the new generation to carve out their own modern love story and celebrate love and individuality in their own way.
Tina, Doruk and their team are out of this world! Honestly, we feel so grateful to have had Tina shoot our wedding day. She brought so much warmth and love to our day, and our wedding photos are more than we could've imagined. I've always swooned over their beautiful (and unique) shooting style and edit, and to now be at the centre of that is a dream. Thank you, you beautiful humans!

Choosing Tina as the photographer for our vow renewal was the best decision we could've made.
She is AMAZING! In all the senses of the word. The communication with her from the beginning was smooth and she answered all of our questions promptly. Not only did she talk us through the best time for our couple's shoot, but she also helped us create a timeline for the entire event so that she could capture the best moments. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and she helped us look natural. She not only captured the most beautiful moments of us, but also of our guests and all the event details.
She delivered the photos way faster than expected, with astounding quality.
The photos are far better than we could've imagined.
She is lovely, and her good vibes are contagious.
You feel as if she's your lifelong friend and you can't help but feel grateful she's there.
We couldn't be happier with the results. We absolutely love our photos.
Thank you Tina! You're the best!

What an amazing team! Your positive energy, passion and creativity made for some pretty spectacular wedding photos. So many of our guests commented on how wonderful you were on the day and on how amazing the photos are! We will definitely be reaching out to you guys again in future and would recommend you to all our friends and family.

“We got married during the first summer storm, complete with rain and thunder. Tina and Doruk captured the day perfectly, from the rain to our joy in each other. It was more like they were there celebrating with us than just doing a job. They were the only people there during our first look. It’s such a private moment and we couldn’t imagine anyone else doing such an amazing job. And of course their photography work is amazing. We get so much joy out of the photos of our day. Thank you so much Tina and Doruk.”

In their everyday lives, Star & Rob save lives as Medical Professionals. On their wedding day, we slowed things way down and stepped out of time for a moment. We celebrated their love in a quiet, flower-adorned church in the woods with their closest family. Then Doruk and I caught a ferry with just the two of them, over to Coochiemudlo Island, a dreamy little oasis where time seems to stand completely still. Upon their arrival back at Star’s family property at Victoria Point, the party crew and their 80 reception guests had lined up to shower them in rose petals and champagne, freshly shucked oysters and canapes were flowing in abundance, thanks to the wonderful team of Dalton Catering. The night flowed on under the their reception tipi overlooking the ocean, serenaded by a quartet and kissed goodnight with a fairy floss sunset over the bay at Victoria Point.
Granting an unprecedented exception, the family’s Catholic Priest had agreed to hold a wedding ceremony outside of his church grounds and officially marry Berna and Tom up on the mountain at Altitude 261 in the Byron Bay Hinterland. This was a first for everyone and certainly something we will never forget.
In case you’ve ever wondered how to pronounce Moët or how to have your wedding ceremony painted by a live painter, this journal entry is for you.
Free-flowing champagne, surprise alpacas, Tuscan cypress lanes, candle light for dinner and a pink villa. This wedding had it all. Redleaf Wollombi in the Hunter Valley was the perfect backdrop for Nitida + Ben's elegant celebrations. Knowing that Nitida adores alpacas, Ben had organised an alpaca appearance when they were signing the marriage certificate. The alpaca made an entrance by licking the bride's face and trying to eat the bouquet. It was absolute perfection. After a stroll through the Tuscan-style grounds of beautiful Redleaf with the alpacas, everyone dined by candle light and danced the night away.
I cannot recommend Lovelenscapes highly enough! Tina photographed our wedding and she was a dream from start to finish. She made us feel so comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera and just nailed the fun/relaxed vibe. In the lead up to the day, Tina created a photography timeline and rounded guests up for pics on the day which made our life so easy. The photos themselves are absolutely incredible and have far exceeded our expectations (which were quite high having seen their amazing work previously). I can’t stop looking at them and am SO happy with every single picture she sent us. If you’re on the hunt for a wedding photographer (or any photographer) - definitely book with these legends! You will not regret it!

Published in QLD Brides Magazine - woohoo! I flew up to Cairns for Hannah and Vinnie’s tropical Queensland wedding at the Shangri-La Hotel. These two are the definition of laid back, loved up legends, so needless to say I had a wonderful time. Four beautiful Little Ones and a giant bridal party of 14 were just a few of the ingredients that made this day as fun and special as it was. Be sure to have a look through the photos from this day if you want to get carried away to the tropical shores of Cairns.
What rain? Nothing phases this beautiful family of three. We had a weather forecast of scattered thunderstorms ahead of our engagement shoot out at Samford, but decided to go for it regardless. We were rewarded with a gorgeous moody sky and an extra charming session with Mich, Charles and their Australian Shepherd baby Frankie. I had spent the previous evening making some blush pink florals for Mich’s hat and for Frankie. They decided to use my wreath for Frankie at their wedding when she will be the ring bearer - so looking forward for all of that to go down this June.
Back in the pre-pandemic days when we were allowed to gather and party in close quarters, Row and Leo were the first couple to host a wedding in the W Hotel Penthouse, overlooking the Brisbane River. This all-vegan wedding featured some of Brisbane’s best wedding vendors, hand-picked by Row who is a talented wedding singer, registered marriage celebrant and photo booth owner. It felt like a luxurious night out with friends for us and the newlyweds even shouted us to spend the night at W Hotel, so that we could party on into the night with them. Cheers to Row & Leo!
Like us, Mandy & Benson run a business together and work side by side every day for their clients. It takes a special kinda love to be able to do that successfully and they are doing it extremely well.
We would also like to proudly announce that Emporium South Bank has chosen us as their preferred Wedding Photographers for 2023/24.
Being a multi award-winning 5-star luxury hotel, Emporium South Bank is always an absolute joy for us to work at, with a team of Professionals that has a similar work ethic and attention to detail as we do. It’s a perfect match and we are excited to make it official now.
“When I hired Tina, Doruk and the Lovelenscapes team, I didn't know that I would also be making lifelong friends.
Their photography is perfection. They worked with me to sort out a vision and theme for my engagement photoshoot and produced something beyond my wildest imaginations. They instantly made myself and my fiancé feel so comfortable. Everything felt natural and it was such a beautiful and romantic moment and the photos they captured really show that. Their style is so artistic and unique I truly haven't seen anything like it. I knew that any photos they took would be reflective of our relationship and be rare. They really are works of art.”
Stormy skies and the mountains. When in Meteorological doubt, we always decide to make a run for it, and we’re so glad we did for Ai-Vi & Matt’s beautiful engagement photos. Their photos turned out quite painterly, romantic and intimate and we used a fine art editing technique to bring exactly that mood to the forefront. This shoot got under my skin and kept me up at night for its beauty and its portrait of two sweet souls in love. We hope you can feel it all with us.
It is no secret that we are completely smitten with every single product we’re offering. They are all made by artisans in Italy. This post is an overview of our offerings, based on 10 years of experience as Photographers, Producers and Designers. Our products are available to the public, all we need is an online gallery with high-res photos.
Many years ago, we went on a hunt for the perfect album. We ordered albums from every reputable album company around the world, tried everyone’s cover materials, paper options, laminations, glosses, foils and more. We then visited our top candidates around the world to inspect their production sites, meet the makers and understand the history and motivation behind the products and the people who create them.
One year ago, Bloom Australia opened its doors in Brisbane’s Newstead, bringing a new form of bridal fashion into the city. Bloom’s owner, Sam, moved to Brisbane from New York and is offering exclusive dresses, separates and accessories to Brisbane brides - a lot of them from designers that Brisbane-based shoppers previously had to chase via Sydney or Canberra or internationally. All gowns that you find at Bloom are hand-made in ateliers, by designers who celebrate #slowfashion and care about the environment in their procedures. At Bloom, Sam’s motto is that bridal rules are meant to be broken. To welcome Bloom in Brisbane, Lovelenscapes did a little shoot earlier this year - enjoy browsing through some highlights and looks in this journal post.
How good are winter weddings with their crystal clear skies, red leafs and dreamy light. Michelle and Charlie got married at one of our favourite venues, Preston Peak Wines in Toowoomba, in a heartfelt ceremony that included gifting a rose to the mother of the bride and mother of the groom, as well as a session of scissors, paper, rock between the bride and groom. I knew from our engagement session together that this entire wedding would be a vibe and a half because Mich & Charlie are always up to something and you mostly find them giggling and teasing each other. Check out their bridal party photos to see what I mean - I dare you not to smile looking at them. Over the 8 hours of my solo photography coverage {they had booked our Emerald Package with 1 Photographer}, we saw the temperatures swing from a sunny 25 degrees in the morning to a chilly 5 degrees at night. The team at Preston Peak kept us all entertained and warm with their fireplace in the Swarovski chandelier room and a bonfire outside.
Marina Machado re-defined our entire concept of what cakes can be. This Brazilian firecracker has completely cured us of our cheese-over-cake snobbery. She bakes, she cooks, she sculpts, has a serious chef-background and pays proper homage to her Brazilian heritage with the best dance moves in her kitchen in Mount Tamborine. This woman is unafraid to look at the world, people and places in depth, incessantly chasing inspiration and truth. Her cakes have depth and stories weaved into their many layers. They are pure art and it blows our minds that she makes her works of art available to freshly married couples to add to their wedding day.
