VICTORIA POINT BRISBANE WEDDING | STAR + ROB
In their everyday lives, Star & Rob save lives as Medical Professionals. On their wedding day, we slowed things way down and stepped out of time for a moment. We celebrated their love in a quiet, flower-adorned church in the woods with their closest family members around them - floral installations by The Orange Blossom who also looked after all the bouquets and floral installations at the reception tipi. Then Doruk and I caught a ferry with just the two of them, over to Coochiemudlo Island, a dreamy little oasis where time seems to stand completely still. Rob had brought champagne and a picnic basket along as a surprise for Star and somehow it was truly one of the best things we had done in a long time. The beautiful water and boats reminded me so much of the wonderful lakes of my childhood, all across and around my hometown of Berlin. Especially now that it’s summer over in Germany, I miss it a lot, and this felt like home.
Upon their arrival back at Star’s family property at Victoria Point, the party crew and their 80 reception guests had lined up to shower them in rose petals and champagne, freshly shucked oysters and canapes were flowing in abundance, thanks to the wonderful team of Dalton Catering. The night flowed on under the their reception tipi overlooking the ocean, serenaded by a quartet and kissed goodnight with a fairy floss sunset over the bay at Victoria Point. Dalton Catering looked after a wonderful feasting-style dinner featuring fresh seafood and locally sourced fresh produce, topping it all off with gourmet cheese platters. Star & Rob’s cake was lovingly decorated with timeless white roses by Star’s grandmother Appollonia and the guest favours were little bags of seeds from the mothers’ gardens, featuring hand-drawn decorations and labels for the little bags of future sunflowers, nasturtiums, basil, fennel and more, to bloom in each guest’s own garden. Star & Rob had given us our own seats, hand-written place cards and seed bags too, and we spent dinner time drinking Chablis and having great conversations with two beautiful couples who were Star’s neighbours when her and her sisters were little.
