Kim + Peter … •☾• … Romantic Adventure Session
Hello Lovers. Thank you for being here.
Imagine it’s your tenth wedding anniversary and you feel a bit ‘meh’ about your original wedding photos from way back when. You know - those photos where the Photographer made you both hug a tree or where they shot you ‘through the ring’ and didn’t give you any indication as to what you could do to not look awkward during portrait time? Yep, those photos.
It’s no secret that the wedding industry has undergone immense changes over the past 6-10 years.
Outdoor Adventures, Fashion {!!!}, Painterly Influences and Heartfelt Artistry have well and truly entered the realm of Wedding Photography throughout the past decade - lucky for those among you who are still about to get hitched. Not so lucky if you got married 5-10 years ago and had one of those oldschool, super-established, zero-vibe types behind the camera back in the day who rocked up and were ‘just there’ to shoot to then deliver atrocities, probably on a CD-Rom, and only editing a few photos ‘for your album’. Eeeuw. BTW, beware because there are still a few of those around - avoid!
So, let’s talk about Kim + Peter: ten years married, two beautiful kids. A vibrant, stylish, tasteful and fun-loving couple. Also huge food-lovers, so needless to say Doruk and I loved them from the start.
Being an avid instagram user, Kim couldn’t help but notice the difference between what is possible nowadays compared to what was done for their Sydney wedding photos ten years ago. I was at the airport somewhere when she sent me a DM on insta asking whether we do re-shoots of wedding days. I could tell she had done her research. Kim wanted something artistic, romantic and authentic to capture who they truly are and to not have any regrets regarding her wedding photos. When she showed me some other accounts that she loved {overseas} and told me that they even considered coming up to Brisbane to have us do this, I knew we could create something beautiful together.
This is somewhat personal for us as well. We absolutely don’t love our own wedding photos from each of our weddings in Australia and Germany and can’t wait for our own re-do in Italy or wherever in 2024 for our own tenth wedding anniversary. I was on fire to nail this for Kim + Peter! On a mission!
It turned out that Doruk, Amber and I were going to be around the Southern Highlands with the caravan anyways in November 2019, road-tripping from Brisbane to Melbourne and back for Safire + Alex’ Melbourne Elopement and Ally + Jarratt’s Ballarat wedding.
Kim booked us into Milton Park Country Guesthouse up in the mountains at Bowral and Doruk, Amber and I scheduled our itinerary in a way where we arrived in the area a few days before the shoot to scout that venue and find additional wild roads and scenic spots to create a variety of images with Kim + Peter.
We loved the wild, windy mountain climate around Moss Vale, Bowral and Mittagong and had the freshest Eggs Benedict most mornings at a precious café/shop that I had been wanting to visit in person for years: Bespoke Letterpress {drool-worthy stationary} and loud, majestic, beastly letterpress machines that are hundreds of years old.
Below are some highlights from for Kim + Peter’s Romantic Adventure session with us, starting at the beautiful venue {Milton Park Country Guesthouse} and then leading into some roaming around the country roads and lookouts of Bowral and surroundings.
4 hours of shooting. Gargoyles, Smokebombs, Ant bites {me!}, champagne, mountain fog, drizzle, rays of peachy sunset light trying to break through some dramatic skies… we had it all.
That last photo with the yellow smoke on the country road is my absolute favourite. We had champagne and were all well and truly warmed up and cheerful by then. I think it shows.
SAFE SMOKE BOMB USE
If there are Photographers amongst you, head over to a journal post we wrote a while ago about smoke bomb use and safe disposal:
In a country like Australia where fires have caused so much pain, it is the right thing to do to read up on safety precautions for using smoke bombs and the safe disposal of them afterwards {yes, it’s a bit of extra work, but how could you not}. We see a lot of Photographers using them thoughtlessly, posing risks to themselves, their couples and their surroundings. Don’t be that Photographer.

Originally built in the 1880s as the residence of Dr. John Thompson, The Inchcolm by Ovolo draws inspiration from the interwar period, a time characterised by its innovative art, music, and literature. In the 1880s, probably no one envisioned that Dr Thompson’s residence would one day be a sought-after wedding venue and much-loved boutique hotel, yet The Inchcolm stands today as a symbol of Brisbane’s rich history and architectural brilliance.
What we love the most about this venue is its perfectly moody light. In conjunction with the considered placement of strobe lights {external flashes positioned across a room to manipulate the light and create a specific ambience}, the angle and intensity of the natural light flowing through the windows in the foyer and in the Thompson Suite make for the perfect setting for wedding and editorial shoots. We keep coming back for more.
OBSESSED!!! Having Lovelenscapes capture our wedding was the best decision! I seriously LOVE every photo taken and we are so grateful that we will have these memories to look back on forever. They are a true heirloom and worth the investment. Erin & Doruk were so relaxed and fun to work with and are true artists at their craft. My partner and I cannot sing high enough praises for the whole team at Lovelenscapes!!! Thank you so much for making these memories so special xx

Lovelenscapes are the absolute dream team and we can’t recommend them highly enough. We did our engagement shoot with them and right from the start, Tina made us feel at ease and as though we were chatting to a friend. Tina, Doruk and Gabe then captured our wedding day, in April, from start to finish, with photography and videography. They blended in to our day so well, and all our family and friends are still raving about them. It’s clear to see the passion they have for their jobs. They are simply beautiful humans and we couldn’t have picked a better team to capture our special day. They were so helpful throughout the process and all the images we’ve received so far have blown us away. Our wedding videos exceeded our expectations and we even had an iPhone reel with us as soon as we woke up the morning after the wedding! Incredible! The attention to detail from Lovelenscapes is like nothing we’ve experienced. They truly captured all the special moments, big and small. Do yourself a favour and let them be the ones to capture your special occasions.

Tina, Doruk and their team are out of this world! Honestly, we feel so grateful to have had Tina shoot our wedding day. She brought so much warmth and love to our day, and our wedding photos are more than we could've imagined. I've always swooned over their beautiful (and unique) shooting style and edit, and to now be at the centre of that is a dream. Thank you, you beautiful humans!

What an amazing team! Your positive energy, passion and creativity made for some pretty spectacular wedding photos. So many of our guests commented on how wonderful you were on the day and on how amazing the photos are! We will definitely be reaching out to you guys again in future and would recommend you to all our friends and family.

In their everyday lives, Star & Rob save lives as Medical Professionals. On their wedding day, we slowed things way down and stepped out of time for a moment. We celebrated their love in a quiet, flower-adorned church in the woods with their closest family. Then Doruk and I caught a ferry with just the two of them, over to Coochiemudlo Island, a dreamy little oasis where time seems to stand completely still. Upon their arrival back at Star’s family property at Victoria Point, the party crew and their 80 reception guests had lined up to shower them in rose petals and champagne, freshly shucked oysters and canapes were flowing in abundance, thanks to the wonderful team of Dalton Catering. The night flowed on under the their reception tipi overlooking the ocean, serenaded by a quartet and kissed goodnight with a fairy floss sunset over the bay at Victoria Point.
Granting an unprecedented exception, the family’s Catholic Priest had agreed to hold a wedding ceremony outside of his church grounds and officially marry Berna and Tom up on the mountain at Altitude 261 in the Byron Bay Hinterland. This was a first for everyone and certainly something we will never forget.
In case you’ve ever wondered how to pronounce Moët or how to have your wedding ceremony painted by a live painter, this journal entry is for you.
Free-flowing champagne, surprise alpacas, Tuscan cypress lanes, candle light for dinner and a pink villa. This wedding had it all. Redleaf Wollombi in the Hunter Valley was the perfect backdrop for Nitida + Ben's elegant celebrations. Knowing that Nitida adores alpacas, Ben had organised an alpaca appearance when they were signing the marriage certificate. The alpaca made an entrance by licking the bride's face and trying to eat the bouquet. It was absolute perfection. After a stroll through the Tuscan-style grounds of beautiful Redleaf with the alpacas, everyone dined by candle light and danced the night away.
I cannot recommend Lovelenscapes highly enough! Tina photographed our wedding and she was a dream from start to finish. She made us feel so comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera and just nailed the fun/relaxed vibe. In the lead up to the day, Tina created a photography timeline and rounded guests up for pics on the day which made our life so easy. The photos themselves are absolutely incredible and have far exceeded our expectations (which were quite high having seen their amazing work previously). I can’t stop looking at them and am SO happy with every single picture she sent us. If you’re on the hunt for a wedding photographer (or any photographer) - definitely book with these legends! You will not regret it!

Taryn is from New York, Mick is from Brisbane. After meeting in a wine bar in Chile, Taryn moved across the ocean for love. Originally, Taryn & Mick were supposed to get married in New York, but C*VID had different plans, so they gracefully pivoted to an intimate ceremony and lunch reception at Wild Canary. Having a sustainable, eco-friendly wedding was super important for these two, so they sourced a lot of their vendors through the Less Stuff More Meaning directory. The ethos at their chosen venue, Wild Canary in Brookfield, is perfectly aligned with Taryn & Mick’s values with their emphasis on fresh, farm-to-table produce and whole foods. Taryn & Mick both got ready in the Penthouse at The Johnson in Spring Hill with their favourite people around them. Leigh McCoy & Dyan Acuesta were doing their magic on hair & makeup and Ann Taylor from Ceremona Weddings looked after the most important part and created a soulful ceremony to get these two hitched!
Published in QLD Brides Magazine - woohoo! I flew up to Cairns for Hannah and Vinnie’s tropical Queensland wedding at the Shangri-La Hotel. These two are the definition of laid back, loved up legends, so needless to say I had a wonderful time. Four beautiful Little Ones and a giant bridal party of 14 were just a few of the ingredients that made this day as fun and special as it was. Be sure to have a look through the photos from this day if you want to get carried away to the tropical shores of Cairns.
Back in the pre-pandemic days when we were allowed to gather and party in close quarters, Row and Leo were the first couple to host a wedding in the W Hotel Penthouse, overlooking the Brisbane River. This all-vegan wedding featured some of Brisbane’s best wedding vendors, hand-picked by Row who is a talented wedding singer, registered marriage celebrant and photo booth owner. It felt like a luxurious night out with friends for us and the newlyweds even shouted us to spend the night at W Hotel, so that we could party on into the night with them. Cheers to Row & Leo!
Like us, Mandy & Benson run a business together and work side by side every day for their clients. It takes a special kinda love to be able to do that successfully and they are doing it extremely well.
We would also like to proudly announce that Emporium South Bank has chosen us as their preferred Wedding Photographers for 2023/24.
Being a multi award-winning 5-star luxury hotel, Emporium South Bank is always an absolute joy for us to work at, with a team of Professionals that has a similar work ethic and attention to detail as we do. It’s a perfect match and we are excited to make it official now.
How good are winter weddings with their crystal clear skies, red leafs and dreamy light. Michelle and Charlie got married at one of our favourite venues, Preston Peak Wines in Toowoomba, in a heartfelt ceremony that included gifting a rose to the mother of the bride and mother of the groom, as well as a session of scissors, paper, rock between the bride and groom. I knew from our engagement session together that this entire wedding would be a vibe and a half because Mich & Charlie are always up to something and you mostly find them giggling and teasing each other. Check out their bridal party photos to see what I mean - I dare you not to smile looking at them. Over the 8 hours of my solo photography coverage {they had booked our Emerald Package with 1 Photographer}, we saw the temperatures swing from a sunny 25 degrees in the morning to a chilly 5 degrees at night. The team at Preston Peak kept us all entertained and warm with their fireplace in the Swarovski chandelier room and a bonfire outside.
What are you looking forward to the most for your wedding day?
Cameron: Seeing Sarah walk down the aisle.
Sarah: I’m looking forward to embracing everything on the day. I’m grateful to have most of our loved ones with us despite the Covid-19 restrictions. Most of all I’m looking forward to exchanging vows.
Which Moments/Photos do you think you will treasure the most from your day?
Seeing each other at the ceremony, exchanging vows and being announced as husband and wife. Pictures of just the two of us and our immediate family.
Having known Mackenzie and Tim from our engagement session together and from our emails over the years, we always figured that this wedding would be extra wonderful, and it really was. Mackenzie’s Maid of Honour, Jaime, described the bride as a living, breathing, ever-smiling sunflower and that pretty much sums it up. Then there is Tim who is one of those people whose company just makes you feel happy. Mackenzie & Tim’s wedding at Hideaway Weddings in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland featured all the sunflowers, BIG grandparent love, a cracker ceremony by Erin Woodhall Celebrant and one of those endless golden sunsets that we all enjoyed near Mount Tibrogargan, glass of Veuve in hand.
You know you love your couples when you can’t even look at each other without crying during getting ready time. Lizzie and Jasper got married last weekend surrounded by their favourite people. Wherever we turned at their venue, Somerset Sunset in Kilcoy, we were drenched in golden light and found ourselves in a peak Lovelenscapes scenery and light. Combine that with the completely unfiltered love radiating from Lizzie & Jasper, some sassy flower girls and some cute donkeys who nibbled on the bridal bouquet and you have yourself that kind of magical day that is impossible to think back to without tearing up a little. We dare you to stay cool whilst looking through these.
Oh, how we loved everything about Lisa + David’s wedding. I think we have never worked harder to research locations and do our homework for logistics than for this 14-hour Brisbane Wedding Day, which took us all over town. We thought we knew Brisbane after ten years here, but Architect Lisa’s brief to feature a diverse portfolio of Brisbane’s Architectural Gems in their wedding photos sure was a challenge we loved to take on. Their wedding was a sophisticated blend between their Vietnamese heritage and their vibrant and stylish personalities as a young Professional power couple.
It’s no secret that the wedding industry has undergone immense changes over the past 6-10 years. Outdoor Adventures, Fashion, Painterly Influences and Heartfelt Artistry have well and truly entered the realm of Wedding Photography throughout the past decade - lucky for those among you who are still about to get hitched.
Being an avid instagram user, Kim couldn’t help but notice the difference between what is possible nowadays compared to what was done for their Sydney wedding photos ten years ago.
So off we went into the Southern Highlands and Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa to re-imagine it all.
Ingredients:
Golden sunset light . Smoke bombs in peach and rosé . Tipi dreaming under starry skies . White April gown . Biodegradable confetti . And a whole lot of kilometres on the road for us to drive the caravan and husky from Brisbane all the way to Ballarat in country Victoria, Australia.
Reza and Derek are both people who make everyone around them feel content and lovely and the best thing is when they do that thing to each other and just lose themselves in moments busting with all the feels, completely unaware of anything going on around them for a little while. This Modern Romantic Melbourne wedding was full of beautiful humans, sassy personal touches and excellent taste, so we were completely in our element.
Meila & Dat got married at Coolibah Downs Private Estate, a gorgeous venue nestled in rainforest in Nerang. There were alpacas, a modern tea ceremony, a moody forest and lots of dancing. When I think back to their day, I think about their open hearts and radiant souls - they are both the type of people who bring nothing but goodness to everyone around them…
A big traditional Vietnamese wedding - our first! We were shooting alongside our cinematography mates from White Lace Films, though, who knew all about the traditions, so it was a breeze. Thi & Anthony - thank you and your beautiful families for a special day filled with family, culture, smoke bombs and great food!
These two had our hearts as soon as we first met them for their engagement photos at The Happy Valley on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Amy & Tim are one of those couples who make you feel like all is well with this world. They celebrated their wedding tucked away in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland rainforest in the Glasshouse Mountains at Beerwah Hideaway and Amy rocked her blush Luv Bridal gown. Expect epic scenery and a textbook wedding kiss.
"After meeting Doruk and Tina we knew they were the people to capture our wedding - even though it was in New Zealand. They were the kindest and most helpful people, their work was creative, fun and natural and they took the time to understand what was important to us. They were organised, flexible and easy to work with, taking care of details from end to end. All our family and friends raved about how lovely and helpful they were - Doruk and Tina really made the day fun and added to the excitement. We would wholeheartedly recommend them to people looking for someone to capture their most treasured memories - we cannot say enough good things about them!" ~ Anna & Geoff
I was pregnant with Maya and only 4 months away from becoming a mama when I photographed Cat & Austin’s wedding with my love and my husband of then 8 years, Doruk. The fact that Doruk and I get to create together, and that we get to roam around wineries with people who feel like family to us, will never get old for me. Here is our visual poem of Cat & Austin’s intimate winter wedding at Ocean View Estates Winery, only featuring their closest family members and the two of them.
